Laura Niculescu was born in 1993 in Bucharest, Romania. She works and lives in Bucharest.
Laura Niculescu studied at National University of Arts in Bucharest, Romania, and she received a BFA in Graphic Arts in 2013 and an MFA in Painting in 2018.
Niculescu exhibited her artworks in many group shows nationally and internationally and she is the recipient of numerous awards, notably being The British Institution Awards for Students, awarded by The British Institution at Royal Academy of Arts, Summer Exhibition, London, United Kingdom, 2017.
In 2025 and 2022 her artworks were Longlisted at Aesthetica Art Prize, London and her artworks were published in Future Now Anthology Book 2022. In 2018 her artworks were also Selected in the first stage of judging at Aesthetica Art Prize. In the same year she was a finalist of The Teodor Moraru Grant.
Niculescu’s artworks were exhibited in many group exhibitions as Royal Academy of Arts, Summer Exhibition 2017, London, United Kingdom, Five Plus Art Gallery, Vienna, Austria; IMO Gallery, Poland; The National Museum of Art of Romania, The Palace of the Parliament of Romania, Quadro Gallery, Cluj-Napoca, Romania etc.
As a Longlisted artist at Aesthetica Art Prize, one of Laura Niculescu’s works was included in a compilation video on a shared screen in a Longlisted Artists area of the 2025 exhibition at York Art Gallery, York, United Kingdom.
The artist opened her first solo exhibition Less is more in 2020 at Arthalle Gallery, Bucharest, Romania, curated by Diana Andrei, followed by two other solo exhibitions: A Square Apart in 2021 at the Palace of the Parliament of Romania, and Intermezzo at the Mogosoaia Palace, Romania.
